Frequently Asked Questions

Where will we meet?

Usually at the ramp or tackle store nearest to where you are staying. If you have a specific species in mind we may meet at the ramp closest to the fish. Driving time from your accomodations vary, but average less than 20 min. We'll discuss meeting times and directions 24-48 hours before your trip.

What do I need to bring?

The normal beach-going stuff: Sunscreen, sunglasses (preferably polarized), hat, camera, snacks and drinks.

You should dress appropriately for your trip. Light colored clothing is best in the summer, and depending upon the weather, a light weight rain jacket. For winter fishing, dressing in layers is important. Every captain likes an angler wearing shoes with light colored or non-marring soles.

*Flip-Flops are popular for the beach, but pose a slipping danger onboard. Flops are NOT reccommended footwear.

Flops like these are BAD

What will we catch?

I most often target whichever species is providing the best bite given the winds, tides, and seasons. If there is a certain fish you've been wanting to chase, we can book your trip to coincide with the best fishing for that fish, or spend whatever time you have targeting your prized quarry. I strive to tailor your adventure to you.

What type of fishing will we do?

The particular techniques we'll employ depend on our target fish. We may use artificial, live and natural baits, as well as one of a kind hand-tied jigs and lures. Casting around docks and across grass flats, bottom fishing, trolling with lures and/or live bait, drifting, and kite fishing are all tactics that are commonly used to catch these fish.

Will I have to cast?

Some fish require casting, many do not. If we need to cast, and you are uncomfortable, or would just like a few pointers, let us know! With our patient, easy to understand instruction, most people are casting very well within minutes.

Can I bring my own gear?

The highest quality tackle is available for you to use, however, if you have a favorite rod, you are more than welcome to bring it.

Can I keep my fish to eat?

Yes. Although I do like to release as many fish as possible to help insure that everyone has fish to catch the next time we fish together, it's perfectly fine for you to keep your limit.

Will you clean our catch?

Yes. I will clean a reasonable amount of your catch (2-4 fish per person), bag your fillets, and ice them down for you, free of charge. If you have a large pile of fish to clean, I will be happy to clean the remaining fish for a small fee.

I have my own boat, will you teach me the area?

Absolutely, give me a call and we'll talk about it. (850) 206-9062

Do you Guarantee Fish?

No, I do not guarantee that you will catch fish. There really is no reason to do that. Just know that I hate a bad day worse than you do. Honest, it's a lot easier for me to have you enjoy your trip than to apologize for elements outside my realm of control. What I do guarantee is that I will give you my best effort, I will take you to where they live and provide you with the proper tools and instructions to catch fish at every opportunity and have a memorable time doing it.

That's the BIGGEST FISH I've EVER caught!!!
